We’re on the rocks but Ziggy and China need a loving home

-

TEAM RSPCA Southport have been at it again, facing their fears while raising money for the Animal Centre.

This year’s team took on the challenge of Gorge Walking & Gorge Scrambling in Wales.

Gorge Walking (Scrambling) involves walking through high streams of water and waterfalls.

This requires great strength and team work to find ways to make it through the journey altogether.

Activities include jumping into waters, boulder hopping, rock climbing, as well as exploring caves along the way.

The team have done a fantastic job and have raised over £250 with more money still coming in. Sadly due to

Coronavirus, not as many people were able to attend and they were unable to do all that had been planned, but we are all so proud of those staff and volunteers who attended and helped raised money for the Centre.

Here at Southport, Ormskirk & District Branch we are a separately Registered Charity to the National RSPCA, this means we are completely reliant upon donations, legacies and monies raised through our Charity Shop, together with the public’s generous support of our locally run fundraising events.

We aim to support the National RSPCA through our rehoming work and by promoting their animal welfare objectives. Unfortunately, this year the One Fun Day event was cancelled back in the summer and it looks as though we won’t be able to hold a Christmas fair in our usual manner.

Smaller events like this adventure weekend really help to make up for some of the money, which has been lost through the Pandemic.

There is still time to donate through the Just Giving page which has been set up by volunteer Becky Martin https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rspcaadventures or if you would rather donate by cash or cheque these can be sent directly to the RSPCA Animal Centre, New Cut Lane, Halsall, PR8 3DW.

Every donation helps and is greatly appreciated by all our hard working staff and volunteers.

Every year we help rehabilitate and rehome hundreds of cats and dogs and we couldn’t carry on this work without your help and support; so, thank you to each and every one of our supporters.

While Team RSPCA Southport have been busy on their adventure weekend, the rest of the staff have been working hard caring for the cats and dogs currently staying with us, many of which have been reserved and will be off to their new homes very soon.

Dora, who has been mentioned on several occasions within these articles, is sadly still here looking for her forever home; with an adult only household with no other pets.

Please do spread the word and help her find a caring home, we know the perfect family are out there.

New boys on the block Ziggy and China are currently looking for a home together.

They are beautiful nine month old neutered cats who are brothers. The handsome pair absolutely love toys and climbing around so they do require an active fun home.

Ziggy is the very handsome white boy with different coloured eyes, we find he enjoys coming to you for a cuddle but is soon off playing again. China is the gorgeous black and white boy who is slightly shyer than his brother, but once he gets to know you also enjoys your company.

We feel both could go to a home with another friendly, playful cat and with children eight years and over.

If you think they could be the right cats for you, please apply by filling in a Perfect Match form, which can be found on our website www.rspcasouthport.org or if you have any questions, please call us on 01704-567624.
