Club issues a warning over fan on pitch
SKELMERSDALE United may be slapped with disciiplnary charge after last week’s famous cup win – and have been forced to put out a warning after the behaviour of one enthusiastic young fan.
Director Kev Panther told supporters: ‘‘It was a great night on Tuesday as United with a late goal from Joe Herbert sealed a dramatic win in the FA Cup, everyone in the ground was over joyed and with good reason to be.
‘‘However, after the third goal we had a “young” pitch invader, no doubt celebrating the goal. I would have liked to have done the same.
‘‘But entering the field of play is a Criminal Offence and as such has been reported to the League and Football Association.
‘‘We may be a “Non League” team but we still play to the rules of the FA, so if it’s someone entering the field of play at either Liverpool, Everton or any football league ground, that club is liable to a fine, and we are NO different.
‘‘We have already had one substantial fine early this year, and now face another disciplinary charge.’’
Mr Panther told the club website: ‘‘The club have been more than made up with the support shown from the young contingent, it no doubt helped the lads on to their win on Tuesday, such was the backing the lads gave to the players but we must act responsibly.
‘‘If there is any more indiscretions then the club could in effect face severe consequences.
‘‘Please don’t let this happen. Lets get behind the club, we have got a good thing going here, lets keep it that way.
‘‘Thank You.’’
