HESKETH Bank Parish Council’s Best Kept competition concluded with the announcement that 14 Becconsall Lane has won the Front Garden Category.

The announcement comes just a week after the whole of Becconsall Lane was crowned Best Kept Street for 2020 in the competition that has been running for six years.

The judges agreed on 14 Becconsall Lane as the winner from a rather long shortlist of 18.

Sue Watson said: “This was a difficult decision to make with previous winners, May Cottage and 34 Becconsall Lane, against some excellent newcomers. However 14 Becconsall Lane just managed to tip the balance this year.”

Their prize is a VIP dinner for two.

Hesketh Bank Parish Council also announced there will not be an overall winner for the Allotments category this year, with judges deciding that all those shortlisted were worthy of Commendations.

The parish council thanked the judges, Sue Watson, leader of the local U3A Gardening Group, and Liz Tyson from Landsdowne Camping.

Cllr Ian Moran, leader of West Lancashire Borough Council (inset) has pledge to fight any plans to build a lorry park in the borough
