Black and White army can lead us to glory
Fitzy calls on Saints fans to roar side on to victory at 2021 stadium
St Mirren chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick has called on the town to turn the Paisley 2021 Stadium black and white for this afternoon’s must- win match with Raith Rovers.
Fitzpatrick hopes supporters will turn out in their numbers in a bid to roar the side on to victory.
The backing of the Saints fans is something that has been constantly praised by players and fans alike during the side’s recent resurgence and the Buddies supremo hopes that they can give it one final push for the side’s last home game of the season.
Fitzpatrick told Express Sport : “We are expecting a big crowd to make their way through the turnstiles.
“The supporters have been nothing of superb and it really has made a difference for every single person involved in this push.
“It would be fantastic if we could get as many people to come along as possible.
“It is the biggest game for the club in a long, long time and every little bit of support is appreciated.
“This game is massive, make no doubt about it. But this team will be putting their all into it, they know what is at stake, as do the fans.
“We have a side out there playing for the supporters, and a side that understands what it means to represent the club.
“They are worthy of the support and the club needs it more than ever.”
A win would take the Buddies back above John Hughes’ side in ninth place, with Fitzpatrick sure that the side will be up for the challenge.
He added: “The players have been nothing short of magnificent and I think it is brilliant for us that this game is at home.
“It is sure to be a great game of football, with both sides obviously giving it their all to come away with the points.
“We both need them as much as each other, but we are enjoying playing at home these days.
“Everyone understands the importance of it, so I would say to anyone even considering it to come along and support the side.”
