A Paisley opticians has launched a new £500,000 store.

The new Specsavers facility in Moss Street was officially opened by Councillor Lorraine Cameron, Provost of Renfrewshire.

It features six test rooms as well as a hearing assessment room, two repair areas, an additional visual fields room and a dedicated call centre.

Gail Thompson, store director at Specsavers in Paisley, said: ‘We are very excited to welcome locals to our fabulous store on Moss Street, and were thrilled to have the provost here to cut the green ribbon.

“We can now accommodate more eye and hearing tests and have lots more space for customers to browse our glasses.

“We are dedicated to providing the best professional service we can and this significant investment is a huge step to ensuring this service continues for years to come.”

The shop also features a customer lounge and seven additional high- tech tablets to make the process of choosing spectacles even quicker and easier for customers, according to Specsavers.

And the company added that the store’s “stateof-the-art” lab means that the opticians will be able to have most single-vision glasses ready for collection the same day as the customer’s appointment.

An audiologist will also visit the store two days per week.

Mrs Cameron said: “I was delighted to help open the new Specsavers store in Moss Street.

“Having been a part of the community for 25 years, it is brilliant that they continue to offer a service to the people of Paisley.

“It is important that businesses like Specsavers are able to thrive in Paisley, and Renfrewshire as a whole, at what is an exciting time for the area with the town having been shortlisted for UK City of Culture 2021.”
