Group knits together a cash boost for volunteers
A Christian organisation that helps young people stay safe after a night out has received a cash boost.
Paisley Street Pastors goes out into the town at weekends and helps anyone who is worse for wear or in distress.
The can be anything from phoning for a taxi for them or handing out flip-flops to women whose high heels have become a too painful to walk in.
The interdenominational organisation is now £50 better off thanks to the members who make up the Knit2Gether social group that meets at the YMCA in Paisley every Thursday afternoon.
A cheque for the amount was handed over to the group’s Roy and Cheryl Adair, who gave a talk to the club on what they do.
Mr Adair said: “Our motto is ‘Caring, listening and helping’ and we are delighted to receive the £ 50 which will help us with what we do.”
Irene Lynch of the Knit2Gether group said she had not heard of Paisley Street Pastors until recently when Donna Haveron of Paisley YMCA told her all about them.
She added “I spoke to our ladies and we decided to give a donation.”
