Ren­frew­shire po­lice have in­vited com­mu­nity-minded res­i­dents who want to play their part to ap­ply to be­come vol­un­teers on the beat.

Spe c i a l c o n s t a b l e s are be­ing re­cruited to sup­port po­lice in Pais­ley and sur­round­ing towns in vil­lages, from polic­ing ma­jor events to help­ing to tackle vi­o­lence on the streets.

A Po l i c e S c o t l a n d spokesman told the Pais­ley Daily Ex­press: “Have you ever thought about be­com­ing a spe­cial con­sta­ble and vol­un­teer­ing in your lo­cal com­mu­nity?

“Do you have what it takes to pro­vide an ini­tial re­sponse to in­ci­dents – ar­rest, de­tain or re­port in­di­vid­u­als, carry out searches of ve­hi­cles, premises and open areas and search in­di­vid­u­als and their per­sonal prop­erty?”
