Row over Paisley sex shop
than 30 demonstrators – mainly women – protested outside the council headquarters in Cotton Street with banners that read“Refuse this licence” and“Jobs not filth”.
Counsel for Nolanlight Thomas Dawson said of the shop:“Since it has opened, it has never been raided by the police.
“The shop sells magazines, films, videos, contraceptives, vitamin products and marital aids.
“The shop does not sell anything defined as hard-core porn.”
Mr Dawson claimed the ‘Private’shop had a membership of 15,000 and there was“a legitimate demand for its services”.
He warned if the store closed this demand would be met by“back-street porn merchants”.
