A pensioner has been accused of sexually assaulting two women 15 months apart at the same location in Linwood.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, it is alleged that John Ferguson, 71, of Erskinefauld Road in Linwood, pounced on October 5, 2015 at nearby Greenfarm Road.

On this occasion, he is said to have sexually assaulted a woman by seizing hold of her, placing his hand on her buttocks and repeatedly stroking her there while making sexual remarks.

It is claimed that he struck again on January 30 this year and committed a similar sexual assault.

This time, he is alleged to have seized hold of another female by the body, refusing to release her, threatening to strike her on the buttocks and attempting to do so while lifting her clothing.

When the case against him was called in court, the Crown asked for more time to establish contact with the accused to find out how he intends to proceed.

Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill continued matters without plea until November 1.
