Two-game ban for Embach

Paisley Daily Express - - Theti Cket - Ice hockey

Braehead Clan’s Mike Embach will be suspended for the side’s weekend clashes with Edinburgh Capitals and Fife Flyers.

Embach has been charged under Rule 124 – checking to the head or neck.

The EIHL’s Department of Player Safety received a request from the Sheffield Steelers to review an incident involving Embach from Sunday’s game between the two sides.

Embach was handed a two minute penalty for elbowing in the first period of the clash south of the border, but has now been cited for further punishment.

Using the referee’s report and the video footage, the Department of Player Safety has upgraded the penalty to a match penalty for checking to the head under IIHF Rule 124.

A match penalty carries an automatic one game ban, and the Department of Player Safety has added an additional one game ban following the review, therefore Embach will miss two games.
