Fire­fight­ers bat­tled to bring a blaze at a John­stone farm un­der con­trol.

Emer­gency crews raced to the scene at around 4.15pm on Sun­day af­ter­noon af­ter black smoke was seen bil­low­ing above the town.

There were no re­ports of in­juries and fire­fight­ers ex­tin­guished the flames and made the area safe.

A spokesman said:“The Scot­tish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice was alerted at 4.16pm on Sun­day to re­ports of a fire at a farm in John­stone.

“Fire­fight­ers used a high pres­sure hose to ex­tin­guish the flames. “There were no in­juries. “They en­sured the area was safe be­fore leav­ing the scene.”
