Village is all set to sparkle as it counts down to Christmas
Big lights switch-on follows a festive fayre
Elderslie Community Council has organised a day of festive fun to celebrate the village’s Christmas lights switch-on.
Taking place on Saturday, November 25, the event starts at 2pm with a Christmas fayre in Elderslie Village Hall in Stoddard Square at 2pm.
There will be 20 stalls featuring lots of ideas for Christmas including ornaments, candles, jewellery, hair accessories and toiletries.
There will also be stalls that can do personalised gifts and facepainting for youngsters.
Home baking will be available as well as tea, coffee and juice.
There will also be a collection box for Renfrewshire Foodbank.
A raffle with prizes, including a steak lunch for two including a bottle of wine at the Butchers Steak and Grill, a massage at Paisley Nat u ral Therapy Centre and New Year steak pie from the award-winning Elderslie Butchers, will be drawn at 5pm.
Wallace Primary School Choir will lead the carol singing around the tree at 5.30pm before the lights are switched on at 6pm.
All are welcome to go along and join in the festive fun.
All the money raised on the day will be donated to Another Star in the Sky, the charity set up in memory of popular Elderslie schoolboy Ahmar Javed, 13, who passed away earlier this year from a rare brain condition.
Also taking place on Saturday, November 25, is the Christmas lights switch- on in Renfrew with events in Johnstone and Lochwinnoch on the following Saturday, December 2.
Paisley’s big Christmas lights switch- on event takes place this Saturday.
The event starts at 1.30pm with a Santa parade down the High Street and lots of family fun and events, and will culminate with Northern Ireland rockers Ash performing before the lights switch-on at 6pm.
