Gaffer gets tough ahead of Thistle clash

Paisley Daily Express - - House Home -

St Mirren boss Jack Ross insists there ain’t no rest for the wicked, as he puts his stars back through their paces this week.

Ross allowed Saints’ first- team players some time off last week following the cancellation of their Championship clash with Livingston, due to international call- ups for Lewis Morgan, Liam Smith and Kyle Magennis.

Speaking after putting his players through their paces, Ross admits he has been tough on them as they aim to get up to speed ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Cup clash with Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale.

Ross said: “I have probably been a bit harder on them at the start of this week than I usually would but that is only because they had an extra few days off at the tail end of last week.

“But credit to them, they have all buckled down and got on with it.

“We have worked on a number of game situations that are geared towards what they should expect on Saturday. It has probably been a little bit more intense than they are used to but we are just making sure they head in to the game best prepared.

“We are taking this game extremely seriously and the boys will be well drilled about what it is we expect from them.”
