Four Nations call-ups
Five curlers from Renfrewshire 12th Province have been named in the Scotland side for the upcoming 2018 Four Nations competition.
Reform Curling Club’s Jan Howard has been named among the 31 Royal Caledonian Curling Club members invited to play in the competition. Reform are based out of Howwood’s Greenacres Ice Rink and has a current membership of 168.
She will be joined in the side by James Carswell of Skelmorlie CC and John McDermott of Ardgowan – both of which sides fall under the Renfrewshire banner. Jim Stables and Stewart Sutherland have also been called up from the county.
The five will go on to feature at the weekend event, which is played annually between the governing bodies of each of the home nations in January. The host nation in 2018 is Ireland, however the event will be played at Stranraer Ice Rink between January 19 and 21.
Several prestigious trophies will be played for over the course of the weekend, including the Tom Ballantyne Trophy – which is contested between Scotland men and England men.
The Connie Miller Trophy is also up for grabs as Scotland ladies take on England ladies. The Welsh Stone and the Marshall Millennium Trophy will also be keenly contested.
