HAIR WE GO Mirren goes for the chop in aid of kids’charity

- Kirsty McKenzie Mirren shows off her hair that will be donated to young cancer patients

It was hair today, gone tomorrow for one generous schoolgirl.

Thoughtful Mirren Carter, from Johnstone, has had around six inches of her long locks cut off to donate to young cancer patients.

The ten- year- old St David’s Primary School pupil grew her hair long so she could give it to the Little Princess Trust charity.

Mirren was inspired to grow her hair down the length of her back after her close friend at school donated her own hair to the same worthwhile cause.

Proud mum Lisa explained: “It was a big decision for Mirren and she has been thinking about it for a long time.

“She chose to do it after her friend gave her hair away to charity.

“Mirren has lovely long hair that has grown down to her waist so getting it cut was a big change for her.

“She’s only had her hair cut twice before but she knows that she wants to do it and she understands why it is such a good thing to do.”

The Little Princess Trust provides real- hair wigs free of charge to children and young people up to the age of 24 who have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Mirren has just finished primary six and can’t wait to start her last year at primary school sporting her new look.

Lisa said: “It is around shoulder length now so it will definitely be a big change. “She looks really grown up.” The youngster had her hair cut yesterday afternoon at Morrisons salon in Napier Street, Johnstone.
