Golfers are aim­ing for county hon­ours

Ren­frew­shire’s top golfers will de­scend on Kil­ma­colm GC this af­ter­noon as they bid to be crowned 2018 Scot­tish Women’s County Cham­pi­ons.

Teams of the coun­try’s top women’s county play­ers from Aberdeen­shire, Dum­friesshire, Ren­frew­shire and Mid­loth­ian will all bat­tle it out on the fair­ways and greens.

In the Scot­tish Golf-or­gan­ised event, first played in 1909, teams of eight play­ers from the four win­ning coun­ties from this year’s in­ter county matches will con­test three days of round-robin match play with the even­tual win­ners con­firmed on Sun­day.

Ren­few­shire will be look­ing to de­fend the ti­tle they won at Glen­bervie with a team fea­tur­ing both Me­gan and Eilidh Briggs.

How­ever, with 2018 Cur­tis Cup player Shan­non McWil­liam (Aberdeen­shire), ex-pro­fes­sional Corisande Lee (Dum­friesshire) and Kate McIn­tosh in the Mid­loth­ian team amongst oth­ers in at­ten­dance.
