Move for Gus is still on hold
St Mirren are no closer to agreeing a deal with Gus MacPherson – with boss Oran Kearney still to sit down with the proposed technical director.
Saints have been given permission to speak to their former gaffer and current Queen’s Park manager about the newly formed role.
However, Kearney insists details are still to be ironed out between himself, the club, and MacPherson.
He said:“I have an understanding of the need for a technical director and it is something we are looking at.
“We need to be smart. I mentioned earlier in the week that I don’t know Scottish football and where every player is. Recruitment is going to be very important for us in the coming months. It’s important I surround myself with good people.
“Brian Rice has been phenomenal from a back room staff point of view and a technical director of the likes of Gus could be very valuable as well.
“It’s probably not set in stone the exact role of that job. I maybe have ideas, the chairman maybe has ideas and possibly Gus might have as well.
“It is about getting time to all sit down and come up with exactly how that works and what it might look like.”
