Statement styling for a fairytale celebration
One of the reasons why we wanted to get married was to throw a party for everyone that we loved who had brought us to that point. We wanted a relaxed, rustic garden wedding where everybody could come together and enjoy themselves, and a venue that would let us put our own stamp on the day.
We held our ceremony in the Chapel at Gressen hall Workhouse and Museum, then had our reception at Back to the Garden – a beautiful setting with amazing food and a great garden area.
We bought all our flowers from a wholesale supplier and arranged them ourselves, combining rusticlooking displays with amazing props we hired from The Little Lending Company. We also designed all the wedding stationery and wooden signs, while my mum made our cookie favours and a friend’s mum made our lovely tiered cake.
One of the hardest things was finding my dress. I tried on lots of styles but none of them were quite right. After a lot of research, I found a designer in Budapest who seemed to suit my style and was very unique. The moment I tried my dress on, I could tell that it was the one. When you know, you know!
I asked my bridesmaids to choose their own dresses, only specifying that they were all shades of blue. I loved that it allowed them to be themselves and feel comfortable on the day, and they all looked amazing.
We combined traditions from both sides of our family (including bottles of vodka on the tables!), which created a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Spending such an amazing day with our friends and family was the perfect way to celebrate the start of our incredible journey – the room was filled with so much love.
