VALENTINE’S ROMANCE IN THE POLISH MOUNTAINS
O ur wedding took place at the Góralski Dwór Hotel near Zakopane in Poland, where we had sole use of the hotel for three days. The general area had been recommended to us by a close Polish friend, and after doing some research online, we came up with a handful of venues to visit on a trip to the area.
We fell in love with Góralski Dwór as soon as we walked in. The architecture was like something out of a fairytale – Hansel and Gretel meets alpine lodge!
Our theme for the day was a vintage, snowy fairytale, incorporating the wooden details of the hotel and the soft tones of the snow, with highlights of pink roses and fresh green foliage.
We used a local Polish florist who was incredibly patient, sending us lots of images of bouquets and buttonholes to help us create our vision. We made our flower arch ourselves from silk flowers, ivy and battery-operated fairy lights strung around a standard garden arbor. We took lots of photos before carefully deconstructing it to transport and rebuild at our venue the day before!
We chose to get married in Poland because it offered us a unique setting while also being reasonably priced. It was a lovely opportunity to get everyone together for a few days, and on the day itself, I was overwhelmed that the quiet, unique venue we’d found a year earlier was filled with all our nearest and dearest – that felt like a real gift.
