SARAH AND BENJAMIN
A UNIQUE CITY CELEBRATION IN FAMILIAR SETTINGS
SARAH CLARK AND BENJAMIN SANDERS WED AT ASYLUM CHAPEL, PECKHAM, BEFORE THEIR LONDON PUB RECEPTION ON 13TH MAY 2016
We wanted to get married in a building that felt like it had a life and soul. The Asylum is just the type of building we love – with walls that could tell stories and crumbling plaster and peeling paint making it all the more beautiful.
Our reception venue, The Drapers Arms, is a very special place for us too, as on our second ‘it’s-not-a-date’ date, we popped in for a Sunday lunch, which somehow turned into us being the last people to leave the pub and both missing our trains home. We were delighted when they agreed to let us hire it for the day. It was wonderful to share somewhere that means so much to us with our friends and family.
It was such a lovely and relaxed day that we really enjoyed every moment. We’re quite a quiet couple and not used to being the centre of attention, but the venues, relaxed feel of the day, and the love and support that we could feel exuding from our friends and family made it so intimate and personal.
The little quiet moments together were just incredible, too: the shared glances, smiles and hand squeezes during the ceremony, standing in the sunshine behind the Asylum as our guests filed out, sharing the backseat of the beautiful Citroen ID19 as we drove to the reception, and finally walking back to the hotel from the Drapers Arms, after the most amazing day, once again the last people to leave the pub!
