Head­light, horn, mir­rors, stan­dard clocks, anti-vibe weight, pil­lion pegs and rear mud­guard were ditched. Whitey made a sim­ple alu­minium plate to mount a GSX600F tacho and oil pres­sure/neu­tral lights on the fair­ing frame. He also glass­fi­bred the head­light hole and turned the panel into a num­ber­board. We butchered a dam­aged Day­tona 675 race fair­ing for its catch tank bel­ly­pan, hung from sim­ple alu­minium strips. The re­sult is sur­pris­ingly neat look­ing, had enough room for side num­ber­boards, and only gen­tly touched down at big lean over bumps. The rear tail light stayed – we at­tached a push-switch to the rear brake light switch for the ACU-man­dated rain light. We kept the stan­dard fair­ing – they’re tough, cheap and not too heavy – and fit­ted a stan­dard pro­file Skidmarx screen – the op­tics were per­fect.
