Hungry for his first win
BRITISH SUPERBIKES’ hottest young gun Luke Mossey is looking to upset the regulars this season after a strong year in 2016. The youngster took a number of podiums, pole positions and even bagged a spot in the showdown last year, and is keen to up his game once again for 2017.
Mossey is determined not to be overshadowed by his new, more experienced team-mate Leon Haslam in the JG Speedfit Kawasaki garage, and is keen to get his first win under his belt as soon as possible.
“Ideally, I want to be fighting for the title this year,” he said. “That might sound silly but I really don’t think we’re far off. I just need to get my first win and then take things from there.”
On a single lap, Mossey is one of the quickest riders on the grid but he’s struggled with tyre wear over the last few years. However, with a little more experience and new, stiffer construction Pirelli rubber it could be time for that to change. Add to this the fact that he already has a year’s experience on the team’s ZX-10R, while Haslam will have to get his head around the team’s set-up for the bike, and there’s every chance that Mossey is set to spring a surprise on his more senior team-mate.
