I read Cllr Stewart Donaldson’s letter in Friday’s PA (May 19, Perthshire View) with interest.

However, I was surprised by his line ‘Despite our efforts to build a progressive alliance, the SNP will now be the official opposition’.

At no point in the run up to Wednesday’s full Council vote to appoint the new administration did Cllr Dave Doogan, SNP Group Leader, or any other SNP Councillor, including Cllr Donaldson, speak to me to ask for my support in building a progressive alliance or to support them in forming the administration.

As someone who ran on what most would describe as a progressive platform in both this and previous elections, I am surprised not to have been approached, especially given the strong wording of his letter.
