Deal for PSG player and others still being considered

Saints boss Tommy Wright and Hartlepool manager Craig Harrison shake hands at full time on Saturday after the home win St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is yet to make a decision over the future of French forward Romain Habran, who has been on trial at the club for just over a week.

Having featured in pre-season victories over Sunderland, Rangers and Hartlepool, the man from PSG’s B team has impressed fans and the McDiarmid Park staff alike.

However, Northern Irishman Wright insisted he’s keeping his options open and revealed the 23-year-old isn’t the only potential new recruit on his radar. The Saints boss said: “At the moment I’ve got a number of options and Habran is one of them.

“We’ll speak to the people who look after him and PSG. There are a couple of scenarios that we could get him on, whether it’s a loan or whether he is going to be released from his contract.

“At the minute, there hasn’t been a decision made. We’ve got three or four options, so it’s about who is the best one or two to go for. It’s not going to be decided in the next two or three days. I would imagine he’ll stay with us in the meantime.

“At this stage of the season you can be well down the line with things but clubs are holding on until they can get someone else in before they release players.

“I’ve got at least three or four options that are viable but at the minute, for various reasons, we can’t get anything over the line.”

Meanwhile, Wright praised defender Keith Watson following his return from injury – but said he was still available for a move away from the club.
