Abbey Church Sun­day’s ser­vice was con­ducted by Rev Andy Gra­ham. The choir re­turned from their sum­mer break and sang the in­troit ‘The Lord’s My Shep­herd’. Af­ter open­ing prayers the bi­ble read­ings, Deuteron­omy ch 4 v 1-9 and Matthew ch 7 v 1-6 and 13-23 were read by Irene Hen­der­son. At this time of year many stu­dents are leav­ing home for the first time to go to univer­sity or col­lege. Re­call­ing his own teenage years Rev Gra­ham re­mem­bered his own fa­ther giv­ing him ad­vice: “Re­mem­ber who you are, where you come from and be true to your­self.” This was in essence what God was say­ing to the Is­raelites in the first read­ing. He was com­mand­ing obe­di­ence to the laws which He had taught them but also ask­ing them to teach them to their chil­dren. We must re­mem­ber that we are dis­ci­ples of Je­sus and we are com­manded to pass on our faith and her­itage and take oth­ers with us on our jour­ney to God. So­ci­ety has changed and we must change the way we do this. Our chil­dren’s groups which run on Thurs­days are a good ex­am­ple. Mu­si­cal of­fer­ings by or­gan­ist Austin Wilkie in­cluded chorale pre­lude in F Ma­jor by Healy Wil­lan, Gagliarda by Jean de Macque and Toc­cata and Fugue in D Mi­nor by JS Bach. Sun­day ser­vices at the Abbey are from 11.15-12.15pm fol­lowed by tea/cof­fee. Ev­ery­one is wel­come. The Prayer Group meets on Wed­nes­days at 2pm in the Abbey. All wel­come. The Bi­ble Study group re­sumes on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 13, at 7.15pm in the Abbey. Come along and join in the fel­low­ship and dis­cus­sions. Choir re­hearsals are on Wed­nes­days from 6-7pm in the Abbey. Any­one is wel­come to come along. Thurs­day Friends The group’s monthly par­ties with en­ter­tain­ment and af­ter­noon tea re­sumed on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 14, at 2pm in the Town Hall. Or­gan­is­ers hope to see all reg­u­lars and new faces, ev­ery­one is very wel­come.


Church Sun­day’s ser­vice on Sun­day will be con­ducted by Rev Sandy Gunn at 11am. The Se­nior Tues­day Club com­pleted their spon­sored Night Walk on Satur­day. Thanks were ex­pressed to all who sup­ported the young folk in their ef­forts to raise funds for their 2018 week­end at the Aber­nethy Trust. Tick­ets for the fash­ion show on Fri­day, Septem­ber 29 are avail­able from Jane and Kay. The price is £10, which in­cludes cock­tails on ar­rival - 7 for 7.30pm. Bowl­ing club Lot­tery num­bers this week were 6,10,12 and 18. There were no win­ners. Next week’s prize money is £2000.

Zumba Classes have re­sumed af­ter the school sum­mer break and will run dur­ing term-time only. They will only stop if num­bers are con­sis­tently low. Zumba Gold is held on Mon­days, from 2pm to 3pm, Zumba Fit­ness is on Tues­days, 7pm to 8pm. Both classes are held in the vil­lage hall and cost £4 per class.
