“There will need to be a sig­nif­i­cant amount of aware­ness rais­ing and some train­ing on the cri­te­ria both ex­ter­nally and in­ter­nally among our staff.

“This will let car­ers know their new le­gal rights for ser­vices as well as in­form our staff on their new le­gal du­ties.”

Com­ment­ing on the con­sul­ta­tion a PKAVS spokesper­son said: “PKC has a duty to set the lo­cal Car­ers El­i­gi­bil­ity Cri­te­ria frame­work be­fore April 1, 2018.

“We are run­ning a con­sul­ta­tion on this frame­work [un­til] De­cem­ber 11.

“This gives a vi­tal op­por­tu­nity to have a say on the changes that may af­fect un­paid car­ers and the sup­port they get as a carer in Perth and Kin­ross be­fore the frame­work is set.

“This con­sul­ta­tion is open to ev­ery­one in Perth and Kin­ross.

“In ad­di­tion to un­paid car­ers we are keen to hear from other peo­ple and pro­fes­sion­als who might have thoughts on the con­sul­ta­tion.”
