Busytimefor Perthsailors

-

Perth Sailing Club’s ACH Series and Heathens racing ensured the busy spell out on the water continued.

A change of weather resulted in rain greeting members for the first race of the week, which welcomed five boats.

James Curley, in a Laser, made the correct choice early on by selecting the right side of the river to gain on the fleet.

Following almost an hour of sailing, it was Curley who led over the finish line, followed by Ian Noble with John Ferguson in third position.

Due to a lack of wind, no second race was sailed.

But six boats returned for action on Friday evening with much improved conditions and wind.

Curley maintained his form to lead the fleet at the end of the first round with the Solos of Jim Galloway and Andrew Porteous closing in behind.

The order of the top three remained the same throughout the contest as six boats lined-up for race two of the evening.

Galloway nudged into the lead early doors but, by the finish line, Curley had moved up the fleet to take victory ahead of Porteous.

Sunday saw an early start for the Heathens race and, again, six boats splashed into the water.

Galloway was leading at the end of the first round in fine and dry conditions. He was ahead of Euan Macdonald’s RS Aero.

Curley’s momentum would continue, though, and he crossed the finish line ahead of Peter Bevan, with Galloway in third position.
