Group had all the right answers when they raised £800 at quiz night
Auchterarder Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising group raised over £800 at a recent quiz night.
The group held their fourth quiz night in the community church hall on Friday, September 7, raising a whopping £811.02.
In 2016, Macmillan was able to provide almost £1500 in grants to people living with cancer in Auchterarder, to support people with things like travel costs to and from hospital, and the rise in heating bills as a result of the side effects of the treatment.
Local benefits advisors were also able to help 130 people affected by cancer across Perthshire, unlocking an extra £1.6 million they were entitled to.
The group say this is why it is so important they continue to support the charity to help those in the area who have cancer.
Christine Steele, chairman of the fundraising group, said:“The local community always come out and support our events and we’re absolutely delighted that such a large sum of money was raised.
“The committee would like to thank everyone who assisted with the event and congratulations on team ‘Elgin’on a splendid win.
“Special thanks to Blair Duncan, who has taken over as quiz master, for not only delivering the quiz but for the time required in putting the quiz together.
“Thanks also to Jenny for coming along to assist Blair.
“Grateful thanks to Blair’s employer Blackadders, Dundee for sponsoring the prizes and the warm up games - two lucky winners won £25 M£S vouchers.
“Thanks to Alan Parera of the local camera club for taking the pictures, to Mandy for her assistance at the hall and to noncommittee helpers Martin Ross and Sue Mosely for coming along to assist the committee.
“The committee would not be able to put on these

The next event the group is organising in Auchterarder is their Christmas concert at Gleneagles Hotel on Monday, December 17.
Tickets cost £18 and there will be a raffle on the night, costing £2 per ticket.
