Messaged ex despite bail restriction

-

Less than a week after being freed on bail and banned from contacting his former partner – a 21-year-old Perth man sent her a Facebook message declaring his love for her.

Jordan Walker, of Nimmo Avenue, told Jodie Mitchell:“I love you so much...you mean the world to me.

“I’ll change for you – I’ll settle down and hopefully one day marry you, if you wanted to. You’re my whole world. Please tell me if still love me,”he pleaded.

If she didn’t, Walker said she could“get him done”for messaging her.

Depute fiscal Tina Dickie told Perth Sheriff Court that his ex-girlfriend was “extremely alarmed”when she received the Facebook message on her mobile shortly before midnight.

She recognised it had come from his Facebook account and contacted the police.

Walker was later traced by police and told them:“I messaged Jodie on Facebook. I know I shouldn’t have done it.”

Solicitor Linda Clark pointed out that the message wasn’t in the least threatening although it had to be accepted he had breached one of his bail conditions.

“I interviewed him when he was detained and he wasn’t in a good place.

“He feels a bit vulnerable and there’s a history of him suffering from depression.”

Walker admitted flouting the September 11 bail order by sending a social media text message to Ms Mitchell on September 17, 2018.

Sheriff Gillian Wade deferred sentence until October 24, called for a background report and freed him on bail.

The same conditions will apply - he is banned from getting in touch with her or entering Tulloch Terrace or Logie Crescent.

But she warned Walker:“If you breach your bail again - in any way, shape or form you can expect to be kept in custody.”
