Many dogs can be trained to identify various medical conditions, such as cancer and diabetes. Using their amazing sense of smell, medical detection dogs can pick up tiny changes of odour in the body, which are caused by cancerous cells or changes in blood sugar levels. Many retriever and spaniel breeds have been known to identify skin, breast, and bladder cancer. Some detection dogs work with seizure patients as they have developed the ability to detect when a seizure is coming on, and will warn their owner, get help, and even fetch vital medical supplies. Some dogs have even been known to detect migraines and narcoleptic attacks.
