Car Running Costs

Pick Me Up! - - REAL LIFE -

Deal with any alert lights and, if you notice anything unusual such as a leak, have it looked over by a professional.

Any extra weight contributes to fuel consumption, so clear out the boot and take off the roof rack.

If your tyre air pressure is too low, you’ll use more fuel. Check the air pressure once a month and before long trips.

When driving above 60mph, use the air con and keep windows closed, as it streamlines the car. But when driving at low speeds, you’ll save money by opening a window instead.

Driving at 50mph rather than 70mph can improve fuel economy by 25 per cent. Sudden acceleration and braking also wastes fuel, as does sitting idly in traffic with the engine on.
