Pick Me Up!

Welcome To BUNNINGHAM PALACE

Emma is absolutely bunny bonkers

As Belle and Tinker ran up to the tree house and into their very own bar, The Rabbit Hole, I smiled. I’d spent four months and over £4,000 on turning my garden into a rabbit sanctuary.

My 27 bunnies seemed very pleased!

For me, it was a labour of love.

I’d got my first rabbit Tinker in 2012, after meeting a friend’s bunnies. They were so friendly and loving.

I rescued more and more over the years. I soon had 27 of the bob-tailed beauties!

There are so many that need to be re-homed.

I housed them all in stables in our garden.

Then – three years ago – me and my partner Wayne, 50, moved to a new house.

We had our fluffy brood in hutches for the short term.

But cleaning them every day wasn’t much fun.

We wanted them to be more free to move around, too.

The idea for Bunningham Palace was born!

So I got to work on my quarter-of-an-acre masterpiece.

I painted old hutches and linked them with wire tunnels, which lead up to a bar, where I can leave pellets and treats.

Next we created a maze, where they can weave their way up to Fort Dunlop – a lookout area where they’re safe from predators like foxes.

To top it all, I made Eddie a huge clay rabbit filled with hay, tubes and chambers for my real bunnies to sit in.

They love it – and have even appeared in a TV show

The Secret World Of Posh Pets.

Now my rabbits are truly pampered – you might say my project came on in leaps and bounds!
