Pick Me Up!

Jenna’s partner ploughed the perfect proposal FIELD OF DREAMS

-

it wasn't the most tempting invitation. 'Come and meet me at the farm after work,' Tom, my boyfriend of 10 years, said one afternoon in September. 'I want to show you some new machinery I've bought.'

I'd grown up on the farm in Rackenford.

But quite what Tom wanted to show me, I didn't know.

I wasn't sure I cared either, felt annoyed he'd spent money

when we were saving for an extension.

But Tom, 39, sounded stressed, so I met him there and was ushered into his truck.

‘Close your eyes. And no peeking!’ he said.

I rolled my eyes shut. What's so exciting about this flaming new machine? As we bumped down a track through some woods I was losing my patience. ‘Where are you taking me?’ I huffed. Wearing smart work clothes and no wellies, I refused to get out. Insisting I kept my eyes shut, Tom lifted me out of the car and over a gate. ‘Now open your eyes!' he said. And there it was: the words Marry Me had been ploughed into a field.

Gasping, I turned to find Tom on one knee holding a box.

I leapt into his arms. 'Yes!' I beamed. It turns out Tom had spent four and a half hours ploughing the proposal in Dad's field.

We’re getting married next May. Who knows if Tom has any more surprises in store?

He’ll really have to do something magical to top that one!
