On 26 De­cem­ber 2000, Michael Mcder­mott – an em­ployee at Edge­wa­ter Technology in Wake­field, Mas­sachusetts – shot and killed seven co-work­ers. Us­ing an AK- 47 vari­ant, a 12-gauge shot­gun and a .32 cal­i­bre pis­tol, he fired 37 rounds, re­peat­edly shoot­ing his vic­tims in the back of the head. Mcder­mott was found guilty of seven counts of first- de­gree mur­der. He was sen­tenced to seven con­sec­u­tive life sen­tences with­out the pos­si­bil­ity of pa­role.
