NWHA Warbirds leave North Weald
In an unexpected move on 21 February, North Weald Heritage Aviation (NWHA) announced that its warbird fighter trio — Spitfire FRXIVE (MV268/G-SPIT), Fury FB11 (G-CBEL/SR661) and TF-51D Mustang (G-TFSI/44-14561 Miss Velma) had left the hangar at North Weald and returned to the airfields from which they came in July 2016.
NWHA’S Facebook (@ Northweald Heritageaviation) statement said that they remained under the same ownership (Graham Peacock’s Anglia Restorations Ltd), but the decision had been made to base the aircraft at the IWM Duxford.
The Spitfire and Mustang flew there directly, whilst the Fury is due to follow after spending some time back at Sywell. The NWHA also stated that the Hunter T8c (G-BZSE/WV322) which resides in the hangar under the same ownership (Graham Peacock’s Canfield Hunter Ltd) will be remaining ‘with the continued aim of returning her to the air’.
