Bronco carries poppies from Flanders

Pilot - - OLD TIMERS -

The Bronco Demo Team’s OV-10 will take poppies from Flanders fields to venues and airshows all over Europe this year in remembrance of the sacrifice by so many 100 years ago during WWI. The team is based at Kortrijk-wevelgem Airport situated just 12nm east of Ypres. The airfield was first used during WWI by German fighter squadrons, and later during the Allied advance by the Royal Flying Corps and the RAF. The Bronco Demo Team has adorned its OV-10 Bronco in a spectacular poppy livery and ‘Lest we forget 1914-18’ graphics. In mid-february the team’s Bronco G-ONAA made a Flanders Fields Memorial Tour flying over the WWI battlefields around Ypres and seventeen memorials and cemeteries that remain as silent witnesses to the atrocities inflicted a century ago. On its visits to airfields around Europe this summer the Bronco will be carrying special packets of poppy seeds that will be offered for sale at the shows, with each bag individually marked with the flight date and show name. Part of the proceeds will be donated to charity. www.broncode
