On 28 July a Sikorsky Vh-92a-configured test airframe (Engineering Development Model 1, or EDM-1) flew in support of the US Marine Corps’ VH-92A Presidential Helicopter Replacement Programme. The flight launched the start of the 250-hour flight test programme, which will take place at parent company Lockheed Martin facilities in Owego, New York. This helicopter will be joined by EDM-2 later this year.

In 2014 the US Navy awarded Sikorsky a $1.24 billion fixed-price incentive Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) contract to produce two test aircraft and four production VH-92AS. Production options for the remaining seventeen aircraft will be finalised in 2019, and the VH-92A will enter service in 2020.

Trump this — or maybe by 2020 not (Couldn’t resist it — Ed)
