Biggin Hill and Air BP scholarships, simulating ‘upsets’ in a Sabreliner
The Trustees of the Nick Davidson Memorial Scholarship are inviting applications from those aged 16-26 who are seeking a professional career in aviation.
One scholarship is funded by the family of the late British Airways Captain Nick Davidson, who died of terminal cancer in 2012. The second is the Biggin Hill Airport Award, funded by the owners of the airport, where Nick did his initial pilot training. The scholarships are worth £12,000 apiece and provide training to PPL standard, including 45 hours of flying, ground school and all instructional books and equipment. Co-sponsors are Shipping & Airlines, Adams Aviation Supply Company, Pooley’s Flight Equipment and the Bamrah family, who own the EFG Flying School at Biggin.
Applicants must be capable of passing the CAA medical examination and be available for interview by a selection board at Biggin early next year. They should provide an up-to-date CV accompanied by a letter addressed to Captain Gary Merchant, Chairman of the selection board, setting out the reasons why they should be awarded a scholarship. Applications can be emailed to email@example.com or mailed to: Melanie Courtney, Terminal Building, Biggin Hill Airport, Bromley TN16 3BH, marking the envelope ‘NDMFS’. The closing date for applications is 30 November.
