What is two fold?

Plaza Magazine UK & Europe - - MANUAL -

A common term that occurs in shirt contexts is “two fold” or “two ply”. This technique involves the twisting together of two cotton yarns before they are woven. The result is a resistant fabric with a smoother feel and deeper lustre compared to cloth of single-stranded yarns. Now, this alone is not seen as a guarantee of the quality of a shirt’s fabric. Just as important is the choice of cotton and weaving techniques.
