Art is hotter than ever in the music industry. The cover of Lady Gaga's album Artpop, released in November 2013, features a nude statue of the singer holding a blue ball signed by the artist Jeff Koons. Gaga's aim? To blend music and art, doing a 'reverse Warhol' by introducing high-brow culture to the mainstream. Always one step ahead, Kanye West produced a video that shares similarities with a monumental classic oil painting back in 2010. The director of the Power video was the artist Marco Brambilla. Jay Z recently participated in a six hour long performance to market his single Picasso baby in a gallery in Chelsea, New York. Jay Z kept rapping the single while different people, including the artist Marina Abramovic, were invited to meet him on stage. When asked about the collision of rap and art before the performance, Jay Z responded: “We're artists, we're alike. We're cousins.”
