grandpa used to work in the garden in a suit and tie. He was a really stylish gentleman and a big inspiration for me. But the time has passed when we dressed up everyday, no matter what. Today, we need clothes that fit different situations. Most guys grow up wearing jeans and a t-shirt. So when the time comes to start wearing a suit, they need clothes that bridge the gap between casual and tailored.
Thankfully, a lot has happened. Suits are made softer, more comfortable. When the Italians started to wash their jackets, they really paved the way for a softer look. Today, you can see a guy wearing a €1000 suit with a pair of €50 sneakers, and I really like that. The shirt is a great companion in that wardrobe. Depending on your moods and needs, you can either dress up or dress down a suit, depending on which shirt you choose.
Personally, I like to work with basic colours, and to keep it clean. Be careful with mixing patterns. I like that the clothes are becoming a little bit bigger, jackets a little bit longer, without compromising on the fit. The idea of comfort is not to be underestimated.
