iani, FOUNDER

It has been 20 years since Danilo Cruciani opened his little tie shop on Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina, a stone’s throw away from the big shopping district in Rome. Representing several brands, including Drake’s of London, Holliday & Brown as well as their own line made in Italy, Cruciani & Bella also specialise in pocket squares, braces by Albert Thurston and Francesco Merolla shirts.

Danilo has seen many of his clients go from young boys to grown men – they pop in to buy their first tie there, and later come back for their graduation, first job, wedding and their children’s christening. Big names in the entertainment industry, tycoons and politicians have relied on his expertise to find the perfect tie. “Every meeting with a client is an adventure – they all come from different parts of the world and I love the idea of my ties or braces ending up in a wardrobe thousands of miles from here.”

Hoping to one day pass on his passion to future generations, Danilo Cruciani dreams of starting a non-profit school where tailors and tie makers would teach their skills. His worst nightmare would be for the heritage to be lost and forgotten when he dies. Piazza di S. Lorenzo in Lucina 34, Rom. www.crucianiebella.it
