The film about Donald Crowhurst’s Ill-fated attempt to win the Golden Globe race will now be released in the UK next year. The Mercy, which stars Colin Firth as Crowhurst and Rachel Weisz as his wife, Claire, was scheduled to be released on 27 October 2017.

Now the IMDb website is listing the film as being released in the UK on 9 February 2018.

Don McIntyre, organiser of the 50th Anniversary race that will be sailed next year, claimed: ‘They have held the release date to partly hook into the 2018 50th anniversary edition of the original 1968 Golden Globe’

Directed by James Marsh, The Mercy follows Crowhurst’s attempt to race around the world to win the 1968-69 Golden Globe Race on his trimaran, Teignmouth Electron, and his subsequent descent into falsehood and madness.
