BARAKA GP WINS ROUND IRELAND RACE
The Ker 43 one-off design, Baraka Gp took line honours in the 20th Volvo Round Ireland Race.
Skippered by Niall Dowling, the yacht crossed the line in a time of 3 days, 23 hours 20 minutes and 44 seconds.
The crew also won the IRC Class overall in a corrected time of 5 days, 1 hour, 56 minutes and 49 seconds.
The rest of the 46 boats at sea struggled with light winds, making it one of the slowest races on record.
Darryl Hughes’ 43ft gaff ketch Maybird,was the last to cross the line after 9 days 22 hours.
The race is held biennially.
