BARAKA GP WINS ROUND IRE­LAND RACE

The Ker 43 one-off de­sign, Baraka Gp took line hon­ours in the 20th Volvo Round Ire­land Race.

Skip­pered by Niall Dowl­ing, the yacht crossed the line in a time of 3 days, 23 hours 20 min­utes and 44 sec­onds.

The crew also won the IRC Class over­all in a cor­rected time of 5 days, 1 hour, 56 min­utes and 49 sec­onds.

The rest of the 46 boats at sea strug­gled with light winds, mak­ing it one of the slow­est races on record.

Darryl Hughes’ 43ft gaff ketch May­bird,was the last to cross the line af­ter 9 days 22 hours.

The race is held bi­en­ni­ally.
