POCKLINGTON LOCK RESTORATION COMPLETE
Two further miles of Yorkshire’s Pocklington Canal has been opened up following the restoration of Walbut Lock.
The Canal & River Trust worked in partnership with the Pocklington Canal Amenity Society to repair the Grade II structure in time for the 200th anniversary of the canal’s opening in July. Temporary dams were installed to allow for repairs and the lock gates were replaced, complete with a distinctive six-spoke paddle gear wheel – used for emptying and filling the lock.
