REBUILT BLUEBIRD K7 REACHES 100MPH
Donald Campbell’s restored Bluebird K7 has reached speeds of 100mph during test runs on Loch Fad on the Isle of Bute. During the run, the cockpit canopy of K7 came off, but modifications are planned to address this. In 1967 the hydroplane crashed on Coniston Water, killing Campbell. A team, led by Bill Smith, recovered the wreckage in 2001 and has painstakingly rebuilt Bluebird K7.
