Dutch com­pany is Lume-ing ahead

A tour­ing car­a­van with a fully re­tractable roof, felt and leather in­side walls and a tail­gate you can open to re­veal a kitchen com­plete with sink and gas stove is due to go on dis­play for the first time at this year’s Car­a­van Sa­lon in Düs­sel­dorf. The new Lume Trav­eler will be avail­able in three ver­sions. First, a 2.05m-high, 2.03m-wide shell with a ship­ping length of 5.17m and an un­laden weight of 600kg, which you can cus­tomise. Al­ter­na­tively, you can get the Ba­sic model, with a 40-litre fridge, or the No 1 ver­sion, with a kitchen that in­cludes a Pitt stove, that re­tractable roof, with fly­screen and 100W so­lar panel, an un­laden weight of 1000kg and a pay­load of 350kg. The Dutch com­pany be­hind the Lume is plan­ning to make each model in batches of five, to en­sure speedy de­liv­ery. Uk-bound mod­els, which con­form to UK stan­dards, should be ready for de­liv­ery in the first quar­ter of next year. Prices start from €27,250.
