WHICH IS THE BEST TOWING MIRROR?
QI know towing mirrors are essential, but I’m confused about the types available – they seem to fasten in a variety of ways. Could you tell me the pros and cons of each, please, and whether there’s other legislation I should be aware of? Bob James
Peter Baber answers… Towing mirrors have certainly evolved a lot in the past 20 years. At present, there are two main types available: those that screw on with a clamp to the top or bottom of your car mirror, and those that rely on straps around the whole of the mirror.
Personally, I tend to prefer the ones with straps. In my experience, the movement of the car on the road can sometimes be enough to start the screw or bolt loosening if you don’t do it up properly. With a fully tightened and positioned strap, this is less likely. I would also take note of
