‘This is the car that started it all for me’

1976 Triumph TR7 Markus Tanner, Lichtensteig, Switzerland

-

I’ve spent most of my life working with classics and it it has become my job. I founded and run British classic specialist Classic Car Connection with business partner Matthäus Scherrer. I still have the car that helped start it all, too… I bought my TR7 in 1987, aged 16. It sat in a used car dealership next to a black Corvette Split Window Coupé that needed work. The Corvette was 12k, which I could not afford at all, and my dad wouldn’t give me the missing half. The TR7 on the other hand was only 6k, had 80,000km on the clock, came from its first lady owner and had a fresh MOT. Interestingly, it was actually first registered here in Switzerland on my birthday in 1977. Other than an engine rebuild it has never needed more than basic maintenance. The PC team came to see us on its Winter Warmers run in 2016 and we helped Danny with his P4. Visit classiccarconnection.ch to find out more about what we do.
