THE JAGUAR S-TYPE MARKET

-

Matthew Norbury of North Wales Jag Centre (NWJC) keeps a very close eye on S-type prices. ‘Buyers want Type R and late cars, especially diesels,’ he says. ‘S-type values have bottomed out and in the case of the Type R they’re starting to climb. Most of the cars available are V6 petrol or diesel, or Type R, but there are a few 4.0 and 4.2 V8s available. The 4.2’s running costs are much lower than for an equivalent Type R, but purchase costs are similar. The entry point for a really nice S-type is about £2500, good Type Rs start at around £4000, £7000 buys something really nice and £10,000 secures one of the best Type Rs available. Good diesels start at £3000 but you can spend more than £8000 on a low-mileage car.’
